Mr. Shields started his real estate experience in the early 1970’s after receiving a Masters in Business Administration from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. His first experience was working for a real estate syndication firm that packaged apartments and office buildings. In 1973 he formed Greater South Financial Corporation whose principals developed, financed and managed multi-family complexes.
In the early 1980’s, Mr. Shields formed The Equity Group which became owner/developer/ asset manager for a number of apartment projects in the Greater Nashville area.He has been a principal in the acquisition, asset management, and refinancing of properties. A large portion of these have involved participation in government programs. He has been manager of renovation for existing apartments with more than 4000 units over the past decade. He has helped assure compliance with government regulations with these properties.
He was active in the founding of Parthenon Properties, Inc., and has been active with the company ever since in variety of capacities. Mr. Shields is currently the Treasurer and in charge of accounting.
Mr. Shields has been very active with this church and has had several articles published in the Tennessee Medical Journal concerning the use of Limited Partnerships in forming financial planning.
Mr. Shields and his wife currently resides in Green Hills. |
